Agriculture Meets Education
As Told By Cindy Ettestad
"Housed in the North Clackamas school district's 14 acre farm, the Sabin-Schellenberg Barn is used by the North Clackamas FFA Chapter as a teaching grounds for raising animals throughout the school year. We have lambs in the spring, steers in the fall and rabbits year-round.
We hold an annual Kindergarten Tour for approximately 2,500 pre-k, kindergarten and 1st grade students, where they not only learn about the barn itself but also all of the animals that are in the petting zoo.
We have a very active Alumni Affiliate that never misses a chance to teach the community about the importance of the barn and the school farm. In an urban area, this is more important than ever."
FFA chapters involved in the Sabin-Schellenberg barn preservation are: North Clackamas, North Clackamas Alumni, Molalla Alumni, Oregon Alumni
